Special COVID-19 vaccination walk-in clinics to be held for children in Burton upon Trent

Special walk-in clinics offering children aged 12-15 their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be held in Burton upon Trent this Saturday (13) and on Saturday 27 November.

The clinics will be held at The de Ferrers Academy, Trent Campus, in St Mary's Drive, between 9am-12.30pm and 1pm-4.30pm.

Dr Paddy Hannigan, Clinical Lead for the vaccination programme in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, said: “We would encourage all parents of young people aged 12-15 to take advantage of this opportunity to get their child vaccinated.

“Vaccines are safe, they will protect your children from COVID-19 and will prevent further disruption to their education. With winter approaching, we would urge everyone who is eligible to get their jabs as soon as possible to keep themselves and their family protected.

“Any eligible child can attend – they do not need to live in Burton – and we would advise people to dress for the weather as this will be a walk-in clinic and there may be some queueing at the centre, depending upon the demand.”

Children will be able to get their jab without an appointment but will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and parental consent will be sought on the day.

Only the child and a parent or guardian will be allowed into the centre due to social distancing measures, and everyone attending should wear a mask. If possible, people should bring along the child’s NHS number to speed up registration.

The walk-in centres are operating alongside the schools vaccination programme, which has already visited thousands of schools nationally.
